"This was a great opportunity for me to continue to create and design through this downtime, and still use my mind to figure out artistic ideas and concepts..."
We speak to designer, Steve Grimes, about how he approached the Trippin x Everpress T-Shirt campaign and what he's doing in his own downtime.
Can you tell us a little about yourself?
Firstly, I think this is an amazing project, with a great message, especially given the current climate and a great opportunity for both the designers & charity, so thank you! So, my name is Steve Grimes, I'm a 30 year-old (as of this Sunday!) art director & graphic designer, working across a variety of industries for over twelve years, including design for retail, music, fashion & product design.
How has travel impacted your life?
Luckily, I've had the opportunity to travel a lot for work these days, and it's become one of my big passions. I love adventure and exploration and the feeling of discovering and experiencing new worlds. I've been a supporter and follower of Trippin for some time now, and love the ethos of the brand, the service & support you give & the inspiration for younger people to get out and explore and understand this world we live in.
What informed has informed your creative process during this time?
As part of my personal journey, I've recently started meditation as a tool to focus my mind, and trying to practice the art of being present within myself - through good and bad - to calm any uncertainty or anxiety on the past or future. Given the current global climate, this has really resonated with me as a healing tool and also allowed me the freedom or excuse to actually take the time out of the day for myself.
The brief was a great opportunity for me to continue to create and design through this downtime, and still use my mind to figure out artistic ideas and concepts. I thought the idea of sharing this meditation story would resonate with people, and become a simple guide or reminder to take some time to focus on self-care and almost act as a billboard for wellbeing.
