Darwin's Guide to Puerto Escondido
Darwin's Guide to Puerto Escondido
Darwin is one of the dance music scene’s hardest working ambassadors. She’s a label head, promoter, DJ and activist, juggling several flaming projects at any one time from her current residence in Berlin. Somewhat as a reward for her commitment to cultivating the rave community, she is now being recognised for her music. We caught up with Darwin after her performance at Comunité Festival (https://www.facebook.com/events/420476318630792/) in Mexico to find out her favourite spots in Peurto Escondidio.
"I first visited Puerto in 2017 for one month because I wanted to get better at surfing and I fell in love... its a rough and ready beach town that feels abandoned most hours of the day with an array of secret food spots, good surf, and shit tons of dogs. So many dogs that I've nicknamed it perrodise. I've been coming back every year and staying for longer and longer every time, every year I discover more things and places I love, so I'm happy to share them with you"

“Lorenzo who runs the dive school is a total badass. An Italian/ Puerto transplant that loves to share his knowledge on all things aquatic. I highly recommend the boat tour, get ready to see humpbacks, loads of dolphins and turtles. You can also do your dive course and fun dives here”

“This is probably the cutest thing you will do, and it also helps fund the local turtle conservation programme”

“If you are a beginner, winter is the best time to learn, Puerto Surf is the oldest school in La Punta and you'll be in good hands. You can always hit Zicatela for the big waves, but they are hella dangerous and locals are pretty rough in the water there”
