Frequencies: Trippin Takes Over the Barbican for a One-Off Event Exploring Place and Sound
Get ready to experience sound like never before.
Trippin is taking over the Barbican's iconic conservatory for an immersive exploration of sound as a connector to place. Featuring a panel discussion and live performances by Mykki Blanco and Rat Section and DJ sets from Scratchclart and Nkisi.
As part of the Barbican's summer series, Frequencies - a deep dive into the concept of sound - we'll be hosting an event exploring the symbiotic connection between sound and place: how frequencies connect us to geography and identity, and the role of frequencies when cities, cultures and communities are disappearing.
Alongside a panel discussion on the interplay between sound and place-makings, the event features live performances by U.S. queer rapper Mykki Blanco and experimental noise duo, Rat Section, alongside high-tempo DJ sets from hard techno act Nkisi and funk grime legend Scratchclart.
Ticket holders can enjoy a private viewing of Barbican’s immersive Feel the Sound exhibition and access to Rebel Radio Listening Hub from 4–6pm, and live music is programmed until 11pm.
The panel starts at 5pm, with spaces allocated on first come, first served basis. Feel the Sound, Rebel Radio, and the Garden Room stay open for those unable to attend the panel discussion.
There will be a limited number of complimentary drinks available — a welcome cider from Showerings Cider, followed by margaritas courtesy of Casamigos — alongside a paid bar in the Garden Room.
