This film festival is the largest event of its kind outside of Korea, and is set to take over BFI Southbank in November for its 19th edition this year.

Over the last few years, Korean cinema has enjoyed a moment in the international spotlight, with incredible films like Parasite, The Handmaiden, Broker and Decision to Leave getting the Box Office and global awards attention they deserve.

This film festval showcases the best that Korea has to offer on the silver screen each year – including indie films and animations. Previous editions have hosted filmmakers for talks, and featured programming themes that foreground diversity, like disability in Korean cinema, or cutting-edge female filmmakers who are pushing the status quo.

As the weather gets colder in London, the Korean Film Festival provides culture and film enthusiasts with the perfect indoor activity. Plus, visitors can opt in to watch a series of films and panels over the festival’s two week period, or just catch that one screening from a breakthrough director. Get to know what’s emerging before your friends catch on.

London Korean Film Festival is one of the finalists for Trippin 50, a cultural calendar featuring the best events around the world. Check out the Trippin 50 hub here.
