Cassie Kinoshi: Women’s Role in British Music History
A discussion lead by multi-disciplinary and genre-blending saxophonist Cassie Kinoshi and University of Liverpool musicologist Professor Catherine Tackley.
This conversation celebrates and explores the stimulus for a brand-new composition by Kinoshi which will be premiered at the Barbican concert. Her new work showcases how conflict shapes new social and artistic movements emerging around them; highlighting women's role in British music history. Inspiration for the work was driven by Professor Catherine Tackley’s research into the development of British Jazz during the World War 1 period including the emergence of all-female bands in the jazz and dance-band circuit.

Doyenne x Ormside 01: Conjunction of Moon & Mars
On Friday 8th March 2024, we will see a Conjunction of the Moon and Mars. With a shared right ascension, the Moon passes 3°31' to the south of Mars. The Moon will be 28 days old. Doyenne and Ormside will host an evening of live, improvisational sessions between 9 wildly distinct artists for an experiential ritual kindled by the rare cosmological occasion.
