Come join us at the Beijing club Zhao Dai on 7-8 June.

We're showing up in China. For the first time, Trippin will be hosting the official afterparty for the Qinhuangdao festival Zhao Dai On Leave. The Chinese festival is set to stage its 2024 edition across the beachside location Aranya Golden Coast Community, in northern Hebei, and this will be followed by a two-day takeover from Trippin at their namesake club, Zhao Dai, in Beijing on 7-8 June.

Juke Bounce Werk crew member DJ Swisha will be headlining the first night with his nostalgic, genre-agnostic selections; playing alongside the likes of Melbourne-via-Manila selector Emel Rowe, who heads up the music-focused platforms CC Experiences and Unknwn in the Philippines. Guangzhou-based DJ Sulk will also be setting the dancefloor alight, along with Zhao Dai's co-founder, Zhiqi.

For the second night (8 June), get ready for a high-octane set from Nyege Nyege's De Schuurman, whose distinct club sound mixes bubbling rhythms with rap, R&B samples and trancey synths. Ravers can expect to experience body-moving cuts from Rotterdam-based selector Kimmah: a rising artist within the scene who uses her Scattered Waves show on local station Operator Radio to explore Southeast Asia's diasporic sounds. The line-up also features local DJ haomiiya and Chengdu's Nighttrain2000.

Entry is free for those who've purchased a festival pass to Zhao Dai On Leave. For those who haven't, head here for tickets.

Zhao Dai first opened as a club in Beijing in 2017, designed to be an “open space for open minds”. In 2020, the team behind the club created a festival to counteract the collective feelings of isolation brought on by the pandemic. The first edition was called Zhao Dai Seaside and it was later renamed to Zhao Dai On Leave. Since its inception, the festival has marked itself out as an unmissable event within the region, recognised among its local community and across the electronic scenes in East and Southeast Asia. It's become a meeting ground for China's sprawling underground.

Last year, we included Zhao Dai On Leave in the Trippin 50: a cultural calendar featuring the best events around the world. For the 2024 edition, Zhiqi took part in the selection process as a curator.

Head here for tickets to the Trippin afterparty.
