Graduating from Barbados Community College and attaining her Bachelor's degree in Studio Art, Alanis Forde has been dedicated to her art since 2017. The contemporary artist specializes in figurastic portraiture, inspired by her heritage and identity.

She’s been in a number of group exhibitions at Vermont Studio Center, The Barbados Museum and Historical Society, The Crane Gallery, Gallery of Caribbean Art and a few other non-conventional spaces. Having completed her second residency at the Chautauqua Institution Visual Arts Program in New York.

Alanis has gained recognition in her hometown of Barbados and working on large scale public mural commissions which have fastened her artistic reputation around the island and continues to grow momentum.

As a creative on the scene, Alanis is well-versed in art galleries and spaces in Barbados, sharing her top spots around the Caribbean island.

This is located opposite the Garrison where Gold Cup Horse racing takes place. So you're seeing more than one cultural spot and right around the corner is a bunch of food places. So you know, all in one there.

Dre's Bar Pelican Village Craft Centre

There's pottery places and there's an art gallery. There's some food places as well. It's very cool. It's a walkway away from the port and from where the cruise ships dock.

Golden Square Freedom Park

This recently opened in 2021 and there are these benches that these artists were commissioned to create. There's also this beautiful like brick wall with different last names of people in Barbados. I think Rihanna visited it on one of her last visits here. So it's a cool little historical heritage like brick wall. But if you're from Barbados you can find your last name.
