A Music Lover's Guide to Bali

Potato Head is Bali’s principal music hub, thanks to the curated sounds of the custom-built Klymax nightclub. Yet beyond this, it can be hard to find good music in Bali. Resident DJ, bagsvs, is on-hand with advice on discovering Bali’s thriving, yet elusive, music scene.

bagvs is known for his eclectic mix of deep house, future electronica and minimal tech, with unparalleled knowledge of local events. There’s no need to endure crowd-pleasing chart hits in tourist-filled beachside clubs–the island offers plenty of smaller, underground venues where the true creative energy thrives, with intimate parties and authentic events that bill Indonesian talent alongside international artists.

bavgs rates Bali as one of the few Indonesian places that can truly support grassroots musicians, “You can work full-time as a DJ, with bars open daily and a constant demand for fresh sounds. The island’s soundtrack is influenced by the happy, uplifting music.”
