Having hosted the first pride parade on the continent Cape Town is widely regarded as the gay capital of Africa. The city often feels like an endless joyride with numerous tracks sprawled across South Africa’s western cape each leading to its own enclave of wonder. Wandering round and round the ticket booth is a valid reaction to a city that leaves you this spoilt for choice.

The mesmerising multicoloured district of Bo-Kap is a wonderful place to start, its bright blues and greens reminiscent of Joseph's technicolour dream coat. The bustling waves and white sand of Llandudno beach are a surfer's dream. All this is set against the backdrop of the notorious Table mountain and its cloud cloth, a beautiful testament to the idiosyncratic ways in which nature chooses to display its beauty.
