Athenians can be overly enthusiastic and curious when they meet a person for the first time but they don’t tend to hold long conversations especially if you are from another country. It’s partly a language thing so don’t get discouraged if you travel alone and try to talk to a Greek person. To get more in-touch with the local scene it always helps if you have an acquaintance or friend that lives in the city. It’s easier to meet people this way, who can show you around the best areas and invite you to parties. If this is not the case you shouldn’t worry, Athens is full of visitors from all around the world which makes it difficult to feel alone.
