Refreshing Food Spots in Margate with Jordan Stephens

Jordan Stephens

Jordan Stephens is a British actor and musician. Formerly part of the universally-loved duo Rizzle Kicks, Jordan has since embarked on his own independent musical career, campaigning for mental health awareness along the way.Having recently moved from London to nature-heavy Margate for its clean air and tranquility, Stephens is full of praise for the coastal city located in the Thanet district of Kent.

Margate has long been considered the ideal quaint seaside destination, even boasting a shell grotto. Now, with an ever-growing independent food (restaurant Xiringuito, run by a former Bistrotheque chef) and business scene (Margate Arts Club), the location has become a hotspot for city dwellers looking for a break away from the city. In fact, Stephens is the latest in a long line of artists (including Tracey Emin) who have a soft spot for the city. Below, he introduces us to his favourite food places in Margate.

Ralph's

New pizza shop open on the weekends. Uses sourdough. I will eat everything on the menu.

Forts

Arguably the best coffee in Margate. Right by the best part of the beach too, just off the beaten track. Most importantly though - best croissants. The owner Will has got good taste. Also the eggs on toast for breakfast is spot on.

Peter's Fish Factory

Best fish and chips in the UK. I say that with chest. I don’t know how. Haddock and chips for a fiver what more can you ask for?

Olby's

My favourite place to get a roast. My preference is chicken. Black owned. Lovely staff. Studios built underneath so slowly turning into a creative hub too. Very exciting.

Skinny Dip Coffee

Definitely the most abstract cafe food and drink wise in Margate. Full of fusion. They do a coffee lemonade which is surprisingly refreshing.

Mullins

The OG. A Caribbean fusion restaurant in the heart of Margate old town. Bringing the taste of Barbados into red tab Britain. Everyone loves it. I will eat everything on the menu.
